Who We Are

We take real pride in each and every job we do

Goldseal was developed here in New Zealand, and proudly remains a New Zealand based company. Developed in the early 1970s, Goldseal was first used across the automobile industry. It was quickly recognised as a success, and went on to be applied across farming/agricultural, galvanising, industrial & marine industries, proving to revolutionise corrosion control across New Zealand and Australia. After 50+ years of tried and tested success, Goldseal has proven to be the most simple, cost effective solution to corrosion control.

Early 1970s: Development of Goldseal in the automobile industry

Goldseal was developed in New Zealand in the early 1970s, targeting automobile rustproofing clinics. Goldseal completely revolutionised the automobile industry, and had their first accreditation with AA.

1970s: Goldseals first industrial trials

After proven success in the automobile industry, Goldseal naturally started working within the industrial sector. The first industrial trials were applied to stormwater manhole covers in Rotorua, where they needed replacing every 2 years due to the rapid corrosion caused by the geothermal activity. Goldseal had immediate success, and went on to work with the Rotorua District Council to coat all bridges in the district. To this day most NZ district councils specify the use of Goldseal coating for steel structures, and is even used on the Auckland Harbour Bridge to coat the bearing plates.

1980s: Success in the farming industry

In severe process environments such as tanneries, wool scours and meat works, conventional paint only lasted 12-18 months before necessary maintenance. In 1974, Goldseal was applied to NZ’s largest meat processor to mild steel portals. An update in 2004 proved this was effective at preventing surface corrosion without major maintenance. In 1979 Goldseal was also applied to the Ferriers wool scour in Wiri, Auckland - years went by without any maintenance needed. By the 1980s, Goldseal was applied to every major hide tannery across NZ, as well as being applied across every galvanising plant in NZ.

1990s : Goldseal applied in Australia

With proven success across the automobile, farming/agricultural, galvanising, and industrial industry in New Zealand, by the 1990s Goldseal started being used across Australia too. The acid fumes created by the galvanising process causes most single pack, 2-pack and galvanised coatings to fail in 2-5 years. Leading Australian plants are now applying Goldseal to new facilities as a capital expense due to excellent coating life.
